I'm James Brodrick – Captain Brod. I'm a commercially endorsed RYA Yachtmaster, sail and power – so I can skipper and deliver both sailing yachts and motor yachts. Based in Weymouth, I work along the South Coast, around the UK, across the Channel and further afield in Europe and the Mediterranean.

Yacht deliveries
Sailing yachts and motor yachts moved to a new home port, to or from a yard, or after a purchase. Coastal, cross-Channel and long-distance deliveries – recently a Trader 575 from Weymouth to Gibraltar – with passage planning, weather routing and crew arranged.
Skipper for hire – sail or power
A professional skipper for your own sailing or motor yacht – for a day, a weekend or a longer passage. Ideal if you want to cruise further than you would on your own, or need an extra qualified hand.
Charter skipper
Skippering private and luxury charters at home or abroad – most recently cruising Corfu and the neighbouring Ionian islands.
Own-boat tuition & handovers
Just bought a boat? I can spend time aboard with you on your own boat, sail or power – boat handling, berthing, systems, sail plan and anchoring – until you are confident taking her out yourself.
Commercial work
Commercially endorsed skippering for coded vessels, events, filming and other professional work around Weymouth, Portland and the Jurassic Coast.
Sea trials & buyer support
Skippering sea trials for buyers and sellers, and an experienced second opinion when you are looking at a boat to buy.
Boat management
Keeping an eye on your boat in Weymouth, arranging trades, and getting her ready to sail when you arrive.
